I just looked at a video stream on www.nasa.gov  of a space shuttle takeoff.

When I watched these lift-offs on television as a kid, I was awed and overwhelmed by the power, majesty, and beauty of each spacecraft's first steps! Now I can see this kind of stuff over and over on the Internet. It's still just as awesome!

What a fantastic world we have now! Stuff that I had to wait until TV broadcasts would show I now have at my fingertips. And more than I ever could have gotten on TV! This is one jewel that I hope young people can appreciate: the sheer enormity and access to the wonders available on the Internet.

More than just the availability on the Internet are all the wonders it brings. Pictures of such beauty and detail of all the planets bring the heavens within my grasp. All the wonder of the heavens that Carl Sagan conveyed in his series, Cosmos, is right there in living color for me to see and admire!

I shall return to it often.
