Where in the world *am* I?

  • Dec. 7th, 2007 at 11:18 PM

It's fun checking out where Google thinks I am. I just realized you can click on where you say you are, and Google will try to map it for you.

When I said "Ohio Riverbank, in a fortress," I got some map pins for places naming the Nyiro River, the Cuyahoga River, Cleaveland, Cincinnati, Trotwood (near Dayton), and an ad for a LEGO Exo-Force Sentai Fortress.

Astral Plane netted me a place in Philadelphia; there's also a woodworking shop in Wilmington, DE called "Astral Plane." Then there was an ad that said they had a book that could show me how to do astral projection in 10 minutes! Woohoo! :D

"Back from the Y in front of the computer" netted me two places in Texas called "Back."

Reminds me of when Word for Windows first had Spellcheck and would not recognize names. I think the best one I saw from that was the first guy I saw in connection with cinquentas, Neil Barnes on rec.arts.sf.comp in Google Groups. He said Word corrected his name to "Nailed Barnacle." Now that's his e-mail cognomen.

Fun stuff!
